A morning visit saw another DB 60 working an MGR aswell as 57006 dragging Grand Central power car 43080

A visit to Casey Lane saw a DB tug on an MGR,triple light engine freds,a 67+66+37 move which included 37401 sporting awful bonnet airhorns aswell as the usual freight

Just south of my usual haunt at Casey Lane is an overbridge on a public footpath at Chorlton.This location affords excellent views of northbound working but shots of the southbound working can be limited.Ive never been to this location before but I think it needs futher investigation.

A visit to Crewe for the 2 chopper move to Barrow Hill also produced a Colas 47,a First Scotrail 90 and top n tail Freightliner sheds

A flying visit past Longport saw Eddie The Engine on test outside the EM depot

A meeting that finished early saw a flying visit to Arpley yards for a grid & a tug,Crewe saw the NMT,2 tractors,a 40,a W&SR skip and 2 spoons & Longport saw a GBRF shed outside on test

What was intended to be a brief stop turned into an afternoon stint upon news of 56311 dragging 87014,87013,87004 and 86401 to Crewe.What a beast.

A quick visit on the 8th to get Loadhaul liveried 60059 and just a few usual bits from the 9th

Another cracking weekend event put on by the staff of Barrow Hill.Copped 20 locos which I hadnt photed before.Congrats to the group behind the restoration of 56101.It looked immaculate and is a credit to the preservation industry.

Paid a visit to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway (GWR) for their diesel gala.Its the 1st time ive visited & I was very impressed.The staff were helpful & very polite and the loco's were very well presented esp.56003 in Loadhaul livery and 47376 in Freightliner grey.The sun was out for most of the day and I also got to see 9F 92203 "BLACK PRINCE" being unloaded off its low loader.A good day out all round

37010 was to be found on the back of an Alleys low loader this morning on the way to Crewe where there was the usual GM and liner action although 47811 dragging a dead 90043 and load made a nice change

87002 on route learner,47150 on route learner,7 class 90s seen , 3 in Freightliner green and 3 in EWS (to fast to phot) and 2 DRS 66s.Not a bad afternoon really.

Heritage Shunter Gala saw 08016,03099,D2854,D9525 and PWM654 all working between Rowsley at Matlock.50029 was masquerading as 50003 TEMERAIRE.

"THE GREAT GATHERING" which featured no EWS,DRS or GBRF.Plenty attractive steam locos with a mixed of 'the usual suspects' that appear at open days.86401 in NSE livery looked nice as did 47832 in new FMRail livery(but why black)

This weekend saw "The Great Gathering" at Crewe Works.In conjunction with this several railtours were run including a tractor,a pair of Cromptons and a skip aswell as a few 57 drags and the Holyhead turns

The MRC hosted pretty must an all blue gala with 20001,37314,47401,45041 all out in one variety of blue and D182 running in green.

Western D1015 ventured north of Crewe today so whilst out kopping a look , 2 Footex's and a steam special were observed.

Another Friday and another 56 move.This time 56034 is on its travels.

Always carry a camera in the car , you never know what you'll see.I missed a 37 in the layby but not the 56.Always a winner.

Saw more freight action here in 2 hours than in 5 hours earlier at Doncaster(and it's closer to home)

Spent a fewhours on Doncaster station.Very poor freight wise but at least I managed to catch up on a few missing class 91 and GNERStar pics

Nice to see Desiro drivers having fun with the electronic route indicators.350113 starred as 55007 PINZA and 350123 as 40012 AUREOL.NIce to see the 'nameplates' on the units aswell.
Well done guys.It brought a smile to me a few other 'spotters.

Once again the ELR produced a fine gala.Dispite no visiting locos,except for D8154 from Churnet Valley Railway a hot sunny day resulted in some fine shots and 2 very sunburnt legs.

A 5.30 start this morning to get a photo of 55019 at Crewe.The day also produced a pair of DRS 37s on the flasks,an EWS 90 deputising for a pendolino,a pair of 47s,3 57s on drags and a few light engine moves.I'll have to get up earlier more often.Oh and not forgetting 6233 Duchess of Sutherland on railtour duties to Preston.More to come.

Guest steam locos including 6430,9642 and 3440 "CITY OF TRURO" featured alongside resident steam loco 68030.The crowds were out as was the sun on Sunday which also saw a wedding ceremony at Cheddleton Station.

Got up early this morning to catch the supposed 0818 departure to Euston with the 2 87's but this failed to happen.Decided to stick around and wait to see what would happen only for me to miss the 87's run south light engine whilst I went for a pee. DOH.

Today saw three railtours at Crewe within 1/2 of each other . 2 steam trains 6233 and 45305 powered trains to Holyhead & Chester respectively, 6233 takin over from 47851 and dragging 47826 on the rear.40145 also put in appearence with a tour to Holyhead.Quite an eventful morning

Working this gala were D8154,33102,73110,D5054 on loan from East Lancs Rly,a 2 car Class 104 DMU and making its debut D1842 which suffered a few setbacks early Saturday morning but put in an appearance later in the day.

Again the GCR run another flawless gala(from my point of view anyway).Sunday saw 2 steam locomotives,a green 2 car DMU,Peak D123,D5830 running "Drive-a-loco" courses and a pair of green choppers in D8048 & D8098

Went to Crewe to see the Cotswold Rail 3 X Class 87 move only to find 5 87s in the move.What a lineup of superpower

Seen today were Network Rail's 31105,plus 66603 dragging 86901 & 86902,the usual 66s and 92s but to top them all DRS 33207 on route learning duties.

08016,D8,31270,03099 & D2284 owked a non timetable gala between Rowsley & Matlock.D2953 worked brake van rides in the yard,50030 looked resplendant in the sun on show and all the shunters in various stages of restoration were available for viewing.

A quick 15 minute pitstop found 57309 running light and 47805 dragging a fresh out of the box looking 66620 towards Basford Hall.
Platform remodelling of P12 is coming along with new passenger shelters being erected.

20905 takes a break at Junction 16 of the M6.Plus latest arrival 350114 at Chatterley Valley.

A quick visit to Warrington to Phot 56091 saw a slight detour to Crewe IEMD and Crewe DMD to see what was stored.

Newly repainted 87012 found itself working north to Crewe which found me dragging myself out of my sick bed to phot it.And very nice it looks to.Apart from the "Back The Bid London 2012"lettering.Now the promo is over,come on Porterbrook lets have something a little more apt like "THE END OF AN ERA" or "CLASS 87 1973 TO 2005"

Derby Station produced the usual procession of Midland Mainline HSTs and Meridians.Very little freight with only 2 66s and a 60. 2 47s were stabled adjacent to the station.

A snowy morning in Crewe again so managed to grab a couple of hours photting.This is what I saw

Nothing out of the ordinary today just the usual procession of class 66\'s,class 60s,locos stabled at Bank Quay station and a Freightliner 47 on route learning duties.

Nice location for lineside shots.The bridge is situated on a curve which makes for good north and south shots of the WCML.Its away from most main roads so background noise is reduced.Its an exposed location which is not ideal when its snowing/raining or windy.This location also affords a good view of the line to Birmingham mainly used by Cental Trains and Virgin Voyagers/Super Voyagers and EWS run MGRs.

1st loco seen 37261(Result).Last locos seen 37406 & 37416(Double Result)A sunny day produced tractors,sheds,freds,dreds,skips,cans and gronks.A fine start and finish to a good days photography.

The English Electric Day produced 40135 and Class 31 D5600 working the service trains plus 207202 working Bury - Ramsbottom shuttles.Riviera Trains 08780 also worked a turn.Gronk haulage.

Another Friday visit produced very little.A couple of stabled locos,an ex Virgin 47, and EWS 66 and a 92.Also includes a few pics of APT 370006 at Crewe Heritage Centre

An early start this morning to catch the Ruggex's through Crewe which saw 67015 running solo due to late arrival of classmates,47853,47843 & 67019 + 67012 with 67011 on rear.Various 66/5 and 57/3 were seen along with 2 of the fast disappearing Class 87's

An early afternoon visit to Stafford produced several pairs of locos and even triple tractors.2 X 86,2 X 20,2 X 47 and 3 X 37 were seen over a 2 hour period along with 66s and a 92.

A visit to Crewe produced 57302,303 and 304.Also seen were 37427 & 37669 heading a ballast train and 60047 running light engine(I have the 37s and 60 captured on a small avi video.If anyone would like it then feel free to email me)

Paid a visit to what I think is one of the best preserved railways in the country for it\'s steam weekend, which saw 6 steam locos running a variety of passenger & freight turns.

A flying visit to whats left of Crewe DMD produced a couple of DRS 20\'s.Also to be seen were the usual suspects quietly rusting away,doors & windows missing, bonnet & side panels left open as componants are robbed.WHAT A WASTE.

A quick Friday afternoon visit produced a pair of 20/3\'s,a pair of 86/6\'s,86501 and one of DRS\'s new aquisitions 37194.Apologies for image quality in this collection.Am having a few focusing problems with the old Fuji camera.

The East Lancs offered another theme day with 3 Sulzer powered locos in service:D5054,D6536 and 47769.A cold, overcast day didn't bode well for good photography so here are my efforts.

Casey Lane Bridge is just south of Basford Hall Yard,Crewe.It offers good views of all freight movements in and out of Basford Hall Yard aswell as passenger movements on the main line.

A visit to Chatterley Valley produces 66517 and 66552 delivering a Class 350 unit.

A brief visit on the last day of the year to Crewe produced a 66/4,66/5,37/6 and a 20.47303 also seen at Basford Hall.

A quick visit this afternoon produced 3 pairs of locos,a 47,a 92 and to top it all Steam 71000 Duke Of Gloucester.A nice couple of hours.

Following on from 47193 yesterday , today saw 08868 on the back of a low loader.Destination unknown.

47193 on its way from Crewe to Booth's scrapyard in Rotherham.Not long for this world, soon to end up in the great scrapyard in the sky.

The East Lancashire Railway held yet another diesel day featuring English Electric locos.In use were Class 31 D5600,Class 40's 40135 & 40145 , DEMU 207202 with an 08 shunter due on a later turn.

Highlights for me were 40135 caught in low early morning sun at Irwell Vale and the quick repaint of 207202 into green with small yellow warning panels.

Today saw 47840,47851,57302,57304,57306,57308 and 57313 on Liverpool and Preston drags.After a few false starts,unit failures and diagram changes this is what I managed to capture.

I got my digital camera back from Fuji today after it met with an unfortunate accident hence no recent updates.The sun was out so I managed to spend a few hours on Stafford Station.Quiet for the most part and no 87's.

An autumn gala at Llangolen saw 25313,37240,46010,D1566,D8142 and various DMU formations including an eight car formation

A cold,wet weekend saw 33102,73110,kettle 48305 and a DMU in service at the CVR.There is only so many pictures you can take with 3 locos so here they are.

Highlights include a light engine DRS 37, a apir of Freightliner 86's and a DRS 66/4.

A brief visit to see the Network Rail 86 produced 2 92's,3 66's 1 57 and 2 47's with an interesting sticker on the front of 47829.

Todays batch includes double heaed 90's on Freightliner duties, a 67 on Northern Belle stock and the usual assortment of class 47's and 57's.
